About Blackboard Notifications

One of the features of Blackboard are Daily Notifications. These are helpful for staying on top course-related items such as grades, due dates, announcements, and messages.

Availability

Notifications are available for both classic- and ultra-style Blackboard course sites.

How it Works

These notifications are by default sent to you via email around 11pm at night and are also listed on the "Activity Stream" panel when you first sign in to Blackboard.

You have the ability to change the settings of your notifications to fit your preferences. You can choose to have notifications sent as a stream (appearing just on Blackboard), emailed to you (right away or once a day), or push notifications in the Blackboard App (students only).

Use Cases

These notifications can include some or all of the following:

  • Performance alerts (grades and attendance)
  • New calendar events
  • Blog, Journal, and Wiki activity
  • New messages or discussion posts
  • New content
  • New, upcoming, or past due items

Announcements from a course will also appear in the Activity Stream and Emailed notifications.
