Create a Playback Quiz

A YuJa playback quiz gives students points for watching a video, rather than for answering questions.

To create a playback quiz, from the quizzes page click the CREATE PLAYBACK QUIZ button.

 

This will open a Create Playback Quiz window.

The title you would like to see in your Blackboard grades section and on the item.

 

The point value for video quizzes is always 100. You can edit the weight of these 100 points using Blackboard's overall grade.

The default setting gives full credit for the item based on a threshold, which defaults to 80%. This means if the student watches 80% of the video they get the full 100 points. You can adjust the percentage they must watch to earn the full points or choose the second option, "Give credit based on percentage watched." This will give the student a number of points equal to the percentage of the video they watched. If they watch 75% of the video, they will earn 75 points. 

Enter an optional Custom Introduction message if you'd like text to appear with the quiz when they launch it through Blackboard.

Then click CREATE.

Next, we'll want to edit the video quiz and adjust its settings. This is how we prevent students from "watching" the video at 8x speed.

A list of quizzes for the video will appear beneath the 'create quiz' buttons. Click the vertical "..." button right of the playback quiz you just created and choose EDIT. When prompted, choose to EDIT THE QUIZ rather than create a copy.

 

This will open the Quiz Editor. In the upper-right of the quiz editor page, choose SETTINGS

You may also want to allow unlimited attempts.

 

Click SAVE

After you add the quiz to Blackboard, a column for the playback quiz will be added to the Grade Center.
