Presented by Joe Eisenhauer
Session Description: Esports (i.e., electronic sports), or competitive video games, have become increasingly popular at both the professional and collegiate levels. Numerous colleges and universities now host intramural esports clubs, varsity teams, and even curricula and degree programs that aim to place graduates into this burgeoning industry. Detroit Mercy also has a nascent esports club. This presentation examines the nature of esports and their relationship to the Critical Concerns of the Sisters of Mercy, with a proposal to infuse esports with the Mercy charism and simultaneously promote the Mercy identity through esports.
