Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, calls the Church and the world to safeguard human dignity amid the rise of artificial intelligence. This opening panel will explore how the encyclical’s principles align with the Jesuit charism of cura personalis and the Mercy tradition of service to the marginalized, both centered on the formation of the whole student, mind, body, and spirit. Panelists will examine the opportunities AI presents for teaching, learning, and student support, alongside the challenges it poses to institutions committed to forming graduates of competence, conscience, and compassion.
