What happens when a student disappears from class isn’t always about academics. This interactive session introduces faculty and staff to the College Life Coach model — a resource embedded in the Student Success Center designed to connect students to support, community, and belonging. Drawing on the University’s KCP-funded Connections program, presenters will share how College Life Coaches serve as a bridge between classroom faculty and the wraparound services students need to persist and thrive. Participants will leave with practical strategies for making referrals, recognizing warning signs of disengagement, and partnering with SSC staff to support the whole student — a living expression of Cura Personalis.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the role of the College Life Coach and identify when and how to connect students to this resource. 2. Recognize behavioral and academic indicators of disengagement, isolation, or belonging challenges among students. 3. Apply at least two strategies for integrating belonging-focused practices into their advising, mentoring, or instructional approach.
