Leadership skills and traits are one of the largest organizational blind spots that exist in both the public and private sectors. There is a clear delineation between those that have some training in this area and those that don’t. We have the ability to better empowerment agents for our students. This course will both inform and motivate the attendees to appreciate the problem and inspire students to improve themselves. As a result, the students taking this minor will be better prepared to advance UDM’s mission both on campus and out in the world where they are citizens.

Learning Objectives: At the outcome of this period of instruction, the student will be able to: 1. Appreciate the wide gap in the abilities of those with and without leadership training. 2. Understand the skills, traits, and values of those who have leadership training 3. Incorporate the knowledge gained from this course and apply it to advisees and their own careers.
