Learn and experience the practice of synodal listening, an ancient tool that relies on good communication. Synodal listening opens us to diverse voices and possibilities as we take time to hear and understand one another. Learn how to use this deep listening tool in your classrooms, discussion groups, and team meetings. To experience and learn this practice, this session will use an excerpt from Magnifica humanitas concerning what it means to be human. As a Mercy and Jesuit institution, synodality is deeply embedded in our tradition—how might a pedagogy of communal listening look in your classroom or work?

Learning Objectives: 1. Giving background on a synodal contemplative practice and pedagogical tool for the classroom and groups 2. Experience the practice and use the tool 3. Understand where contemplative communal practice could enhance the UDM community
