In the winter 2027 semester, I taught the psychology course, PYC 3150 Learning and Behavior Laboratory. This was the first time this course had been taught in the UDM psychology major in over 5 years and the first time that I have taught the course. Courses like this are normally taught using animals, primarily rats and mice, to learn the basics of classical and operant conditioning. These principles are also the basis of animal training. In an effort to make this course more experiential and engage in community outreach, I decided to attempt to teach the students these learning principles through training goats in different behaviors at a nearby urban farm. In this talk, I will go through the organization of the course, its effects on the students and the goats, and its success in teaching learning principles, accompanied by videos of the course.
