The CETL’s new collaborative working space includes a state of the art conference room and large classroom space for presentations and events.

A $1.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education has allowed the University to establish the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) to promote excellence in pedagogy.  The Center expands upon the services previously offered by the Instructional Design Studio. Those services will continue to be provided through the Office of Digital Education in the CETL but are expanded to offer additional faculty programming, mentoring, consultation, and other services via the CETL’s Educational Development team.

Year One

  • Renovation
  • Staffing transitions
  • Formation of advisory group
  • Pedagogical support available

Year Two and Beyond

  • Mini grants
  • External speakers
  • Additional staffing

Grant Goals

  • Create and staff the CETL
  • Increase retention rates (track traditionally underserved students)
  • Professional development of workshops that support the goals
  • Support for teaching and learning
  • Support peer mentoring program
  • Track student engagement and mission exposure

Working together and across multiple modalities, the entire CETL staff is here to promote excellence in pedagogy, in course design and assessment, and in the use of technological applications and tools to assist faculty in building online and face-to-face courses.
