Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how we teach, work, learn, make decisions, and support students. Drawing on insights from the AJCU-CITM 2026 Conference, this session invites participants to reflect on their current relationship with AI and to consider how these national Jesuit higher-education conversations connect directly to the University of Detroit Mercy. Together, we will examine key themes including human judgment, ethical AI use, redesigned learning and work, institutional responsibility, and the importance of remaining anchored in human dignity, trust, cura personalis, and mission.

Participants can expect to leave with a clearer understanding of why AI matters for Detroit Mercy, how AJCU-CITM insights can inform our local practices, and how faculty and staff might take one practical next step toward using or responding to AI more intentionally, ethically, and thoughtfully in their professional or personal context.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Identify major AI-related insights from the AJCU-CITM 2026 Conference.  2. Explain why these insights matter for University of Detroit Mercy as a Jesuit and Mercy institution.  3. Reflect on their own current posture toward AI use.  4. Consider how human judgment, ethical responsibility, and cura personalis can guide AI-related decisions.  5. Identify one practical next step for engaging AI more thoughtfully in their work, teaching, or professional context.
