This presentation explores innovative student-centered teaching strategies designed to foster belonging, engagement, inclusivity, and student voice within nursing education. Grounded in the mission and values of the University of Detroit Mercy, the session highlights classroom initiatives that encouraged collaborative decision-making, cultural engagement, leadership development, and learner autonomy. Attendees will learn how students were empowered to influence classroom experiences through shared governance practices, reflective engagement activities, and culturally responsive learning opportunities. Preliminary qualitative findings related to student connection, emotional wellness, engagement, and peer relationships will be discussed. Practical strategies that can be adapted across higher education settings to promote supportive and inclusive learning environments will be shared.
